Fall 2018 admissions

I used to have the application status report sent to me every couple minutes: I was told that once your admissions decision is available the portal is no longer the self service where you send and email but that you can see your decision without the email so I stopped having the email sent
Can anyone who has received their decision confirm this?
Additionally I know of people who have been both rejected and accepted so I do not think not hearing anything has anything to do with whether or not you get accepted

@Caligirl24
I haven’t not been accepted or admitted but I know people that have that logged into their portal and it told them their status but I have no clue how to get to it

@Caligirl24 you are right. Once you are admitted, an email is no longer sent and it just shows up on the portal.

Has the next wave of decisions Been released yet ?

@mgh516

its been crickets so far

I’m crossing my fingers for you all! :slight_smile:

@socalmomof4

Thank you!!

My daughter auditions Friday, and the department website says they send out those results within a week, so I’m guessing she’ll know one way or another within the next week and a half or so.

@mom2adancer

Best of Luck!!!

Someone asked about why are so many students are getting rejection letters with relatively high stats? A few reasons, there are a record number of in-state applicants because of comparatively cheap cost of a college education, Southern California location, and improvement in the quality of the college and surrounding city. Back in the day, in order to get into CSULB, you only need a 2.75 - 3.0 GPA and a heartbeat and you were in. I think the current acceptance rate is around 32%, which is shocking to me having lived in CA all my life. In addition, many UC applicants use the CSU schools as safeties and will apply to these schools as back-ups, driving down the total acceptance rates for the studnets with very good, but not great stats.

Music education major who auditioned February 10. Super nervous especially since my GPA isn’t great and I have been checking non stop this past week. The panel told me the music department(Bob Cole Conservatory) accepted me that day and that they were sending it to the university, but I’m still so afraid of being rejected to the university itself. CSULB is my top school and I didn’t even apply to any UCs. My status is the same, “Your application has been forwarded to the academic department for review” and I’m worried my gpa might cause my rejection. Yikes!!

@cloewater
What’s your gpa?

@Calstates
Do you know when the next wave should arrive/ average EI of acceptances ?

3.0 not including senior year, 3.1 with it. SAT 1320

@mgh516

Sorry, I don’t and the EI is anybodies guess @ this point…Its like watching a snail race though

Just got an email that decision will not be available until early april

This just came in (below) via email

Thank you for your application to CSULB for the Fall 2018 term.

I am writing to provide an update on the status of your admission application. The good news is that you are still being considered for admission for Fall 2018 and we have everything we need to complete our review.

However I want to let you know that we will not be able to make a decision on your application until the end of March due to our highly competitive process. I understand that this is both an exciting and anxious time for you, but we ask your patience as we continue our reviews.

We promise to have a decision for you in early April, so please continue to do well in your classes and check your email regularly.

@Caligirl24

Same (basically, wait-listed) until (already accepted people) decline after UC or other school options
