Fall 2019 Transfer Admission

Anybody else out of state worried about their financial aid? Do you know when they come out?

@kewikewi28 Hey! I’ve been checking the financial aid portal and it hasn’t been updated yet for me. Check back in a week and it will probably be updated.

Where is the financial aid portal?

Nvm

@kewikewi28 I’m an OOS student and honestly so anxious to see financial aid. I would love to move to Maryland and attend UMD as a Compsci student, but it seems super expensive. I’ve been talking to current OOS student about the costs and just, Yikes.

Question! For everyone saying they haven’t gotten their decisions yet, don’t we just have to wait til the second batch? I heard there was a second batch coming this Friday. I haven’t called or anything yet because it said my application complete date was March 23rd, so I’m just waiting. Do I have to call?

@ftransfer2019 im not sure, part of me wants to call and the other part of me has heard that there would be two batches as well but I am not sure how accurate that is.

@ftransfer2019 wait nevermind priority deadline transfer decisions have been released so if you applied by March 1st and haven’t received anything then call. If you applied after march 1st your decision will be released with regular deadline decisions.

@yikestm yeah I found this thread here on their website on FAQs (https://www.admissions.umd.edu/enroll/admission-decision-faqs/transfer-admission-decision-faqs?utm_source=Transfer%20Decision%20FAQs&utm_medium=Website&utm_campaign=Decision%20Release) and the last paragraph says, “If you still believe that you are deserving of an admission decision, please email us with your full name, date of birth and the county and state where you live. In the subject line of your email, please write “Admission Decision.” Once we receive your email, we will review your application and be in touch with you shortly.”

So for anyone reading this, just do the above I guess. I just emailed and if I don’t receive an email back soon I’ll call. I wonder why this is happening if our decisions are supposed to be out… my app is 100% completed.

Hey everyone, update on my above post:
I received an email saying because they received my SAT scores after March 1st, I’m being considered a regular decision applicant. you can imagine my frustation. That means decisions for regular doesn’t come out til July. I emailed back hoping to get a decision sooner since July is wayyyyyy too late for me. This may be the case for some of you who haven’t gotten a decision back yet. If your application complete date on your coalition app is anything later than March 1st, you’re being considered as a regular decision applicant. Yayyy:)

I called them and they put my application on clean up so that I’ll get priority review and a decision in the next 2 weeks! If you haven’t got a decision yet call. It was quick and easy.

That’s odd, I sent them the email exactly how they wanted to and haven’t gotten a response. I have a friend who applied with his high school GPA after March 1st and he already got in, mean while my other friend and I turned in everything before March 1st and haven’t heard back. I have heard of there being a second batch of admissions some time this week. Do you know if there’s any truth to that? Thanks

@IMH2022 and to everyone who hasn’t gotten their decision yet, I recommend you call or go to the admissions office and talk to a counselor in person. I wouldn’t rely on email because they take a long time to respond. They haven’t actually confirmed that there will be a second batch of decisions. If you talk to someone directly and they have everything they need, they will put most likely put you on clean up for priority review and you should get a decision within one to two weeks. I know it’s very stressful, but after reading the last few years forums it seems to happen often. Hopefully, we’ll all get our decisions soon. Good luck to all of you

@blvcktea yeah when I went to umd the counselor put my application on clean up too and that I’ll get a decision in about 2 weeks. I hope they review it sooner. I don’t think I can wait that much longer haha

@IMH2022 I don’t think you know how upset I am right now! I emailed an admissions counselor and she told me the reason I didn’t get a decision was because they received my other documents (HS GPA and SAT Scores) after March 1st! Yet your friend already got in?! Super super upset right now. This process has already put a lot of stress on me since I applied to two other schools and I can’t believe that I have to wait even longer even though I applied in FEBRUARY. How ludicrous is that.

@jtaylo86 best i can do is a phone or an email. i live all the way in NY  if you read my above I’m hoping i end up getting a clean up so they can review my decision sooner. super disappointed right now

@ftransfer2019 the same is happening to me sigh

I just found out they never received my transcript from a college I did dual enrollment at even though the coalition app checklist never told me that was required. I wish they contacted people with missing documents earlier because mid-july is too far away.

I just got my acceptance letter and got in!! I’ll include my stats for those of you who haven’t gotten their decision yet:
I’m currently a freshman at a Maryland University with less than 30 credits
HS:
gpa- 3.42
sat- 1160
6 ap credits

College:
gpa- 3.46
credits- 22 completed, 16 in progress (English completed, math in progress)

My deposit fee got waived. Is anyone else accepting/attending UMD this fall?

@lolhalp I’m going to attend and my deposit fee was waived too
