@135792 I believe so. On this thread from 2018 it talks about them sending out a Congratulations email though prior to shipping out acceptances.

I’m pretty sure the admission decisions are coming out on or by May 15.

So, random speculation, but … last year decisions were supposed to be postmarked May 1. Email notifications began on the first and it looks like they were done by about the eleventh (based on last year’s thread.) Maybe they pushed back the notification date to the 15th to allow them to send all notices on the same day (or to actually ship packages). Or maybe Wednesday will be the first day of about a week or so of notifications. Either way - it’s all soon.
I was waitlisted and I received my notification on Friday so I think the decisions might be staggered @section7forme
Oh, thank you for letting me know. Good luck to you, whether it is getting off the waitlist or whatever else is next.
Has anybody gotten in yet? I know that if I didn’t get in then I got denied because I’ve been waitlisted 4 times now at Reed lol!! Good luck everyone
Accepted! I got an email with the subject “This email comes in a big envelope” last Friday but no update to the portal. There’s a strong chance I won’t be accepting admission at Reed, so hopefully that will open up a spot for one of you guys here. Good luck to all!
Can anyone explain to me what the benefits to staggered decisions are? Unless Reed is literally deliberating to the last hour? It just seems arbitrary to me who finds out, how, and why? Genuinely looking for any insight as to why they would continually do this in such a haphazard manner year after year?
I got a rejection email a few days ago. Nothing changed in my portal though.
There was an article recently posted by the school newspaper regarding the state of admissions and why they’ve been so late. It’s on here if you want to look at it, but this is definitely irregular.
I was also waitlisted on Friday, I got an email but no change to my portal. I know that there are still some regular decision waitlist students who haven’t heard yet. Presumably they’ll have heard from all the accepted students by May 1st and will start re-evaluating soon.
I talked to the admissions office today and they said that all decisions should be sent by email tomorrow for the people who haven’t heard yet
“Can anyone explain to me what the benefits …”
Reed is aiming for a fixed number of admission acceptances that are coming in slowly, at the same time they’re crafting classes. Who is admitted tomorrow depends on who accepted yesterday.
I just got put on the waitlist… does anyone have any idea about how many people actually get accepted off of the waitlist?
I didn’t get a response today, so I’m not sure where that places me. I’m not surprised as I never expect Reed to do things on time. Luckily, I am content with waiting but I know many others do not have that luxury and I hope that I’m one of the few who hasn’t gotten a response yet. Anyone else in here not get a response today?
@135792 I don’t have the exact facts and figures on that, but I’m almost certain that last year no transfer students were admitted off the waitlist. I could be wrong! Just get ready to wait a bit unfortunately if it’s a no they won’t let you know until classes start in August, so it could be any time from now until then. Good luck!!!
