We are planning a family event for Fall 2017 and would love for it to coincide with Michigan’s Fall Break. Do Mon and Tues, Oct 16 and 17, 2017 look like the correct dates for Fall Break?

The academic calendars only go out to Summer 2017 right now. The Fall 2016 dates for winter break are Mon/Tues 17/18 Oct, so it looks like the dates you chose will probably be correct. They could end up being different though.

So Fall Break isn’t the 3rd week of Oct each year - it varies from year to year?
It has been the few years I’ve been here and that could be how they time it, but I’ve never considered the timing of break. I just tend to be skeptical with things like this, but that’s just a personal trait. YMMV. I hope it works out for you.
What exactly is the break schedule at michigan? Is it so different from the typical thanksgiving, winter, and spring break that most colleges get?
No. It just has an additional fall break (2 days) that most universities don’t get.
