Fall Honors Classes

Okay, I am looking over the Fall 2009 catalog. For incoming freshman, I see so many of the courses have course numbers like IDH3XXX or ANT4XXX. Aren't 3000 level and 4000 level classes junior and senior level classes? In trying to find a freshman level class with no requirements - it has been tough. Any honor students out here who have taken these courses and have advice to share with an incoming freshman? Thanks!

3000/4000/5000 level classes doesn’t always mean that its harder or for upperclassmen only. Many of the 3/4 ANT class are not hard and generally dont have pre-reqs.

Are you looking at this catalog? [University of Florida Honors Courses - Fall 2009](http://www.honors.ufl.edu/courses/coursesfall09.html)

These look interesting to me. ANT4740, EES4401, Age of the Blockbuster, Biomedical Ethics, Disease and Society, (Immigration, Race, Gender and Ethnicity in American Culture), Neurotheology, LAH4471

D just received an email telling her she needs to pick 6, I think it’s 6, honors classes by June and they’ll hellp her get into 1 of those. Six, are you kidding? Not a whole lot of priority in that is there? Geesh!

zebes

Actually you have to pick 7 and they randomly put you in one of them.

Wow that honors program must have either grown massively or the budget fell through the floor. I was always able to get into any honors class I chose, but then again I took the honors sciences which probably aren’t very popular with the overwhelmingly liberal arts minded honors students.

Randomly? That’s even worse … sigh. Hopefully not. Said to rank her choices so maybe they attempt to put you in your first choices.

zebes, missing UCF’s honors college. Oh well, at least she’s happy.
