Fall or Spring? What to do, what to do...

<p>Here's the thing: If I apply for Spring '10 transfer (soph transfer) it will improve my chances of getting in. But I will have to transfer mid-yr, plus waste more time and money at NYU which I don't want, because I don't like it here. </p>

<p>If I apply for Fall '09 (also soph transfer) I will have a very low shot...but if I get in, I will be ecstatic! If I don't, I'll be screwed, 'cause then I'll really be stuck where I am.</p>

<p>Do you think I should take the chance and apply for Fall '09, or should I wait till Spring transfer? <p>It's probably easier if I post my stats here:</p>

<p>HIGH SCHOOL
8th Grade: B-, C+, A- in 3 9th grade classes
9th Grade: 3.6 UW
10th Grade: 3.03 UW (D in art class)
11th Grade: 3.65 UW
12th Grade: 3.85 UW </p>

<p>UW GPA: 3.51 (would be 3.61 without the darn Art grade)
SAT I: 640M 720V 770W = 2130</p>

<p>8 AP's (5 senior year) some honors classes, started HS math/science in 8th grade, but math grades are low. Very competitive public school on LI ranked in the Top 15 public schools in NewsWeek and stuff like that. </p>

<p>AP Scores:
3 – Macro Economics, Italian
4 – Statistics, Psychology
5 – World History, U.S History, English Lit, English Language & Comp</p>

<p>EC's/Community Service:
National Italian Honor Society – Secretary
School Literary Magazine – Assistant Editor in chief
English tutor in club where AP English students tutor lowerclassmen
Teacher Assistant in Summer Camp for 2 summers
Community service at Islamic Center
National Latin Honor Society member – only 2 yrs because I had to drop Latin
Varsity Fencing – just 1 year</p>

AP Scholar with Distinction
High Honors in English award
High Honors in Italian award
Nassau County Certificate of Achievement </p>

<p>College – NYU</p>

<p>I’ve aced my midterms/papers/quizzes/labs so far – I'm expecting a GPA of at least 3.8, although I can't assume I'll get one until I take my finals.</p>

<p>Teacher Recs: I have one professor I really like and I participate a lot in his class and get high grades – I’m taking his class next semester too. All my classes are small so I know my professors. </p>

<p>EC’s/Community Service:
Circle K – community service club member, very active
Earth Matters – environmentalist club member
International Relations Club – IR is my minor, I attend a lot of lectures/events</p>

<p>No leadership positions because they go to upperclassmen. </p>

<p>Essays: Will be good as writing is my strong point. I’ve already started and they’re not due until March 15th, so I’ll spend a lot of time on them and prune them to perfection.</p>
