Transfer to NYU question

Hey, I'm a freshman at Cornell University and am interested in transferring to NYU (specifically Steinhardt and the Food Studies program). Not sure if I should apply for spring 2010 or fall 2010 transfer.

Here are some of my high school stats:
SAT: reading 730, writing 720, math 720
ACT: 34
GPA: 3.96 (out of 4)

thanks for any input

need your college ECs. if you apply before junior year, NYU will look at your HS stats. your HS stats are terrific so keep up an above 3.5 GPA and have some good college ECs and write good essays. Steinhardt is one of the easier NYU colleges to get in to.

are you an Aggie or a Hotel Management student? (you said food studies, i don’t know why i think you’re an Aggie, heh.)

i transferred to NYU so i can help with any questions.

i just realized i didn’t really pose any kind of question.

my question was: should i apply for transfer for the spring semester (spring 2010) or fall semester (fall 2010) or does it not matter?

if I apply for spring, do they only look at high school stuff? (the deadline is nov 1, so i won’t really have any grades in except midterms)

to be HONEST, spring admissions at NYU are way more selective than fall admissions. if you can wait a year, i would wait a year. i mean, there’s no harm in trying, but with only one semester to go by, i don’t know what NYU would think.

why so keen to transfer? I’m assuming you’re a rising freshman, btw.

Yeah, if you’re an incoming freshman to Cornell it’s kinda weird that you’re thinking of transferring now. Relax, spend a year there, and see if you still feel the same way afterwards. :)

ignoring what the reasons are, is it so “weird” that NYU would not accept me?

If you really want to get out of Cornell I would just apply for Spring 2010, you’re stats are well above average so you should have a really good chance.

I would be surprised if you were not admitted for Spring '10.
