hey, im gonna b entering umich LSA this fall from virginia,
but im goin to be out of country from early june to mid august. Therefore, i wont b able to go to the summer orientation like most other people. Well, michigan package says that if i write a letter explaining why i cant come during summer, it'd b ok to register on august 28th(fall orientation) but..
if i go to the fall orientation, would all the good classes b full? is there a disadvantage on registering dead last in end of august?

oh yea and b/c i sent my deposit money late, i received the summer orientation package and dorm info last week..which was last week of april.
can anyone tell me which dorm is the best for LSA students?
Thanks a lot!

No good way to say this, but registering late has distinct disadvantages. Your course selection will be very limited: some classes you want may be totally closed and others may only be at poor times (i.e. 8am). Although this is unfortunate, your classes are only for four months and then you will be signing up at the same time as your peers. If you really must have a class, you could always go to class on the first day the course meets and talk to the professor (or likely, GSI) and ask for an override into the class. If it's not a lab, there's a good chance that may work, although I have never done it.

In terms of finding a good dorm, since you're in LS&A I strongly suggest you stay on Central Campus. I lived on the Hill in Mosher-Jordan (other dorms include all-female Stockwell, Alice-Lloyd, Couzens, and Markley). Markley has a ton of freshmen and is known for being rowdy--although you probably won't have an option, this is the one to be avoided. I'm not familiar with the other Central Campus dorms, like West Quad, South Quad, East Quad, Betsey Barbor, etc. but they're all only a few minutes from your classes.

I can help you with Central Campus dorms considering that this past year I lived in Barbour and will be living there in the fall again.

Matthew- I knew tons of people in MoJo this year what floor were you on?

Third floor, with the UIR learning community.

Oh ok I knew 2 people on that floor this year. My ex bf lived on the 4th.
