Hello I am currently a student at a CC in New jersey and I am planning on applying as a transfer for the Fall of 2015. I was wondering if any students who have been accepted in the past as a transfer from a CC or any other school would share their stats so I can see where I fall. If you don't mind I would really appreciate it! Also I am applying regular decision since my transcript won't be done in time for the priority application.

How many credits do you have? In general, if you want to go there, I’d apply priority. If you already have a certain number of credits, you don’t have to wait, unless your grades aren’t up to snuff. You’ll be submitting transcripts as soon as the scores are in, and you have I believe until March 1. My kid got in with 48 credits and about a 3.25 GPA at a local CC. So not the most amazing stats.

I just finished my first semester so I will have 32 completed by the end of next semester. Maryland requires 30 credits for no sat or hs transcripts to be sent so thats why I have to wait. Hopefully doing regular will not ruin my chances. Also, my gpa this semester was a 3.33.

3.59 Gpa in-state transfer out of Wor-Wic CC. Had Phi Theta Kappa, Deans List and Honors designations. Admitted to Spring 2015 at UMD. Dunno yet about financial aid- I know I get at least $5,700 in Pell grant aid but not sure about merit aid yet, trying to put together a good TAES app. I’d say anything over a 3.5 gpa and decent extracurriculars and well-written responses to essays and prompts you will have a very good chance.

BTW I was at 49 credits and was planning on staying another semester but I wanted to just get on with it already, I’m not getting any younger, plus I feel the campus environment would benefit me.

One question, what are you transfers planning to do as far as housing is concerned? On-campus housing assignments for transfers are very rare I’ve heard. Will you mostly be browsing Craigslist ads I guess??

I haven’t met anyone who got the TAES without a 4.0.
Good Off campus housing tool.
