@gongju just be yourself with your essay! pomona focuses a lot on hollistic admissions so showing who you are through your essay will look awesome! good luck

To those who are currently waiting worriedly, just look at the first comment on this thread (mine)! With an essay I thought to be subpar and an ACT of 31, I thought I had no chance whatsoever (I even applied to Pitzer’s equivalent of this because I desperately wanted to visit Claremont, but thought Pomona was impossible) and it worked out!
Is anyone else counting down the days to September 17th? With the ACT September 10th, this is such great incentive to just power through and then a week later I’ll be in sunny California. Literally so exciting!! I also have airport anxiety though, flying alone and navigating the airport as someone with very little street smarts is pretty daunting haha
@berkdork i think we are the same person the claremont colleges just seem so appealing and pitzer was always the only one i thought i could manage to get into! but now that pomona accepted me to this, i’m feeling so much more confident and excited about college! less than 2 weeks until we will be there!! the airport struggles will be worth it because i’ve heard it’s a transformative weekend. ok another question for you guys…do you know if there’s any discrepancy between acceptance to Pomona College later on if the college paid for you to fly in vs. if you drove by yourself but got accepted to the fall weekend? i’m driving from san diego. i’m thinking they might be 2 separate departments but i’m not sure…always something to stress about haha
@Gracethecat22 Pure speculation but I don’t think Pomona would care about what method of transportation you took to a “fly-in” in their admissions process later on. Seems a bit pedantic, doesn’t it?
To be completely honest, i thought i wasn’t going to be accepted because of my 27 on the ACT, but i did, which truly shows how holistic this process is. This is so heartening; goes to show scores aren’t everything. I’m sure if you show character and PASSION, you’ll be fine.
BTW, is there a facebook group or something for this fly in? I know WoW has one …
