Anyone else applying ED1?

Me! I just decided to do ED yesterday, but I’m ultra excited. I love Pomona! Are you from CA?

Nope, Florida. Hoping that’ll help me :). No one down here has any idea what Pomona is…

Me too! I’m trying to finish my application this weekend! Have either of you had an interview?

@santeria: Haha nice. Unfortunately, I’m from CA, where people know what Pomona is. But the weather IS nice…
@KYST17: Yeah, I had an on-campus interview with a senior student a couple of weeks ago. It went pretty well. Have you had an interview yet?

I also did an on-campus interview during my visit.

I’m having an interview with an alumnus tomorrow afternoon (I live in CO). Any advice?

I think interviews depend a lot on the interviewer you get, especially on-campus (adcom or senior student) vs. alum. I would say just reflect on your answers to common interview questions in your remaining time. Good luck!

Btw, do you guys know if we have to rush Oct SAT scores for ED 1? Or is regular sending fine?

just regular. BTW, many schools get their scores electronically, and regular is faster than rush in this case.

I’m applying ED also. I have a question. I’m applying online with the common app, so do I have to mail in an early decision agreement from the common app website, or does the Signature page which we mail in make up for that?

I called admissions last week and ask the same question. I was told to have the Oct scores rushed to make it by Nov. 1. BTW, if you look at how the scores are sent to Pomona, you will see that Pomona requests the College Board send them by MAIL, not electronically.

@regulan: I had the same question. Anyone know?
@MomoGold: Really? I was just planning to send them regular for Oct :|

Having helped 2 kids through the Pomona application process, my advice is to read very carefully all the forms Pomona provides outside the generic common app forms. I know many applicants get in a panic because they don’t realize their counselors have to sign a special form. I’m quite certain that signing the paper Pomona ED agreement makes the common app form superfluous. But I am a little reluctant to give advice with certainty, as things might have changed. In general, though, college-specific forms should be fine; if you’re in doubt, it wouldn’t hurt to call the admissions office.

@regulan:
I asked my counselor the same question and she recommended that I send in the paper ED agreement in addition, just in case.

I also applied ED! I am so nervous! I want it to be december already!

Me too! I know I’m going to be really disappointed if I don’t get in :(

Submitted my app yesterday! Yay! Now just waiting until Dec. 15th.

I have a question though - you know how in the Common App it says to do something to avoid Pomona emails being marked as spam? How are we supposed to do this? I don’t want to get an email notification but not know it.

If you’re using gmail, I don’t think its necessary to do anything. They emailed me after receiving my preliminary application and it came through fine. Someone else could confirm this though.

I have yahoo mail…but now that you reminded me about the preliminary form notification email, I got that one just fine. So I guess I’m good to go. Thanks :)
