Falsely accused of cheating on AP exam - What are the consequences?

Today my friend got called into the office and was told that someone reported us for cheating on the AP US History Exam, which we DID NOT. They made her write a letter to the office of integrity swearing that she did not cheat on this exam. I have not been called into the office (yet) so I don't know for sure yet what's gonna happen.
Long story short, I'm not well-liked at school so someone easily could've made this false accusation out to spite me. I don't know what the chances of getting out of this are (first time taking AP tests, first time being accused of cheating). I don't think I did too well on the exam to begin with, so I wouldn't care too much if they cancelled my score lol. But will anything else happen if the collegeboard decides that I "cheated" on this exam? Will they go and report it to every college in the US? What's gonna happen?

You can be prohibited from taking other AP exams.

Can anything else happen? I’ve researched it and the only things I’ve found that drastic things happened to are the ones that had their phone out during the test or were caught speaking to each other during the test, in other words, people caught by the proctor during the test. Like I said, we didn’t even cheat, can a false accusation from someone that doesn’t like me ruin my future?

Speculation will do you no good until you are confronted.

I haven’t been confronted, but my friend has. I don’t know if I will be or not, seeing we only have one more day of school.

It is disappointing that you are having to deal with the anxiety caused by this accusation.

However, if you really did not cheat, you should concentrate your energies on defending yourself rather than on the consequences.

Think of it as though I had written: I was accused of passing a stopped school bus, which I did not do. Some kid on the bus probably reported me because he didn’t like me. How many points are going to go on my record? Is my insurance premium going to go up? Will my parents take away my car? Will I lose my license, and if so, for how long?

After reading that, do you think that I probably passed a stopped school bus or not?

I know…I’m just scared though because as I stated this is the first time I’ve ever taken these tests and I don’t know what the investigation process will be or how badly this will damage my record…I’m ready to defend myself if they do question me because I don’t have anything to hide, but still…there’s so many "what if"s running through my mind right now.

My son appealed and got his score. (Failed). He started reading his Kindle before the test was over (yea, I know…I heard it all at the time), and he sent in copies of what was on his Kindle at the time.

What do you mean by appeal? Sorry I’m so new to this haha.
Did anything else happen besides failing the exam? Did anything bad end up on his record?

All my proctor said while I took my AP exam was that if you cheat your scores ard (immediately, I think he said) terminated.

That being said (personally this is my belief) being “reported” for cheating, falsely or not, would unfairly make staff more wary/suspicious/distrusting of you when taking future examinations. But theres a LOT of unpleasant possibilities I think, to be honest. But what a dirtbag that person (who falsely reported) is, sad thing is he/she would probably be praised for looking out for potential cheaters and get little to no punishment.

No, he failed because he did not do well on the test. He won his appeal, and so they agreed to score the test. Initially the “punishment” was that they would not score his test. That was all. If someone at the school says something to collegeboard, you will get a letter telling you how to appeal.

Just wondering, but were you and your friend reported to the school or to ets first?
