I don't have much source of income from my family to pay for college. So I want colleges to know that so I have better chances of finanical aid but I don't know what to put down. My real parents never got married and my stepfather and my mother are divorced. Neither my father nor my stepfather have affiliation or financial responsiblility over me. So what do I put down besides my mom on the common application?

Common App is for admission. FAFSA and PROFILE are for financial aid.

Petunia, As pFNMCP said, the Common App is used for the application process. For Fin Aid you submit FAFSA or the Profile. The Profile (which is usually used by upper tier private schools) looks at income from all parental relatives and investments to include property. If this will be a problem it will be to your advantage to stick to FAFSA schools.
