Hello. I was going through the website and noticed that, regarding the financial aid for applicant students, families with an income lower than $60,000 are not expected to pay the family contribution in their aid package. I was wondering: does that apply to international students’ families as well? And if yes, considering that the family contribution would be $0, how much you believe they’re gonna give in terms of aid? Thanks in advance.

According to FAQ on Cornell’s Engineering Website
“Is Cornell need blind for admission for international students? Yes. Admissions committees do not include ‘ability to pay’ as a factor in admissions decisions.
Does Cornell offer financial aid for international students? Yes; however, it is limited. International aid selection is a need based process that also takes into consideration demographic and school information, as well as involvement, leadership, character, etc. However, due to limited funds, we cannot provide funding to all admitted international students that demonstrate financial need. We encourage all of our international students to seek outside funding or sponsorship from their local government, industry, or other sources. In order to be considered for financial aid, international students should complete the Cornell University International Financial Aid Application. For further information on applying for aid as an international student, please visit the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment: http://www.finaid.cornell.edu/apply-aid/international-applicants.”
