We're looking at the schedule for family weekend and figuring we don't especially want to go to most of the scheduled events. Does it make sense to not register and just visit our son? One thing I'm wondering is that it says that the "buttons" you get when you register give you free parking in Gutterson garage, but it's usually free on the weekend anyhow. Will it be limited to people with buttons or anything like that? The only thing we might do is go to one of the games, but tickets for one game would be cheaper than a button. Can anyone share their family weekend experiences / strategies? Thanks :)

It’s also Alumni Weekend at UVM. Things may get crazy. What’s the difference in price?

It’s $40 for a family of 4 to register, or $15 per person. I think $13 for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 UVM student to attend a game. Beyond that it gets us like some free popcorn if we go to “UVM Fest” and so on. I could just consider it a donation, I guess, if it makes sense to just register and get the buttons.

What kind of “things” might get crazy? Unavailability of parking?

mathmomvt - Did you wind up going? Did you register? How was it? We just did the June orientation so I know what that is like. WE just make lodging reservations for October but thanks to this post, I know we have to register at the school as well. I don’t mind the fees and I like participating in everything even if it’s exhausting. Wifey prefers to skip whatever she can.
