I was wondering how much having family attending a certain school would help admittance chances. I have a cousin who has attended Harvard undergraduate and is currently attending Harvard Business school. Another cousin (from the same family) attended Cornell undergraduate and Columbia graduate. If I were to apply to these schools, about how much advantage do I have over others? By the way, they both pay monthly to the schools.

You won't get any advantage.

Then why is it they even have a portion in the application asking if we have any family members who are attending/attended? And what motivates alumni payments? Thanks in advance.

Usually it's only parents that make you a legacy, but if your family gives major dollars, adding up to 7 figures, it will help you a great deal.
