I read through this list and only recognized like 5 names.... eek! Guess you guys have a diff def of famous than I do..

this week's nonfiction bestseller.. Freakonomics.. was written by a UofChicago econ professor, Stephen Leavitt. He was on the daily show for it, which i guess makes him somewhat famous. Itd be weird to have him for class one day, and the next he's in new york filming a tv show.

Also, he's breaking the bounds of UofC econ dept. In his book he proves how abortion reduces crime rates. Hows that for conservative!

well, apparently those who award the Nobel Prize and Pulitzer Prize didnt think she is a terrible author

beloved is sooooooo good but i had to read the cliff notes and the book at the same time to understand it. U kinda have to be in the mood for toni morrison

hehe Moni, me too. People name a lot of accomplished people, but they arent necessarily famous =P

LOL... Yeah. Shrek and Moni, one thing you'll find when you get up to your ears in a certain field, is that each field has their own subset of "famous" people. Average people on the street are not going to have heard of them, but if you mention "Terzaghi, Mohr, Peck, and Newmark" to any civil engineer, they're going to claim that they're famous. ;)

harold bloom at yale!!
