@simple I don’t see a Document box. I only see "“Start here - Complete your USConnect Profile”, “undergrad…”, and “graduate…”. Am I supposed to see another box?

@random,
Wait … Complete Your USConnect Profile?? Hmm. First, I’m a parent – my son set up his profile, so I’m not going to be an expert here. BUT, it sounds like you didn’t complete your USConnect Profile yet.

After my son logs in, USConnect opens to an Admissions “tab” (of sorts) which contains 5 boxes – Undergraduate Application, Admission Documents, Receptions and Interviews, USConnect Profile, and Follow Us on Twitter.

I’m guessing, because of the prompts you told me about, that you didn’t finish setting up your profile. After you set it up, you should have the boxes I’m telling you about when you sign in.

Btw, did you do your application online? My son got to the application, he said, by using his USConnect account and selecting the Undergraduate Application on the page I’m talking about.

yea I did register online by accessing undergrad through USConnect. I finished my profile some time ago, and I tried it again, but the box is still there. I’ve filled in all the information with an asterix. There’s one thing that bothers me: under “Country”, there’s a box without a tag that has this under it “Numerals only. Do not use space or dashes. Example: 1234567890”

^It’s hard without seeing what you’re seeing, so I’m going to keep taking guesses by looking at my son’s USC emails and profile …

After you registered the very first time, did you get the email that says this:

"Dear xxx,

You have successfully registered for USConnect, your portal to all USC Admission and Financial Aid services.

Your log in: xxx
Your temporary password: xxx

Please log in to USConnect to update your profile information using the My Profile tab.

Thank you."

After that email, you were supposed to log in using the temporary password, choose a new password, and finish updating your profile. Did you do all that?

I’m not sure what to say about the “numbers only” under the country box. Is there a box there for phone number, perhaps, or zip code, that the “numbers only” applies to?

It sounds like you are not yet in the USConnect portal. You may want to call admissions.

^@random again …
In looking at my son’s USC emails, I think there were two different steps … (1) register for an account (and receive a confirmation email that you’ve registered, listing your user name and password), and (2) receive a second email, like the one above, and sign-in to the USConnect portal to change your password and update your profile.

^How did you apply, randomibdude? I take it you didn’t apply online?

I received the first email, but not the second one. I’ll call admission and ask today. Thanks

So for National Merit Semi-Finalists, will we be getting an acceptance/rejection letter earlier than everyone else? I read earlier that “other scholarship candidates” or something along those lines get letters in February, even if they aren’t invited to an interview/Explore USC. Since NMS get the automatic scholarship, is this any sort of factor in when the letters will come?

MA2011–in the past there was no specific notification from USC for NMF Presidental Scholarships since it is an automatic award when you are admitted (not all NMFs are) and list USC as your first choice w/NM. Early notification of admissions go to those students who are in the running for scholarships for which there will be interviews in February–which are the Trustee and non-NMF Presidential. Of course, many times NMFs are invited to interview for those scholarships. Even though Pres $$ is guaranteed to NMF, it has happened on occasion that the interview has bumped a student up to the Trustee, so it can’t hurt to come and interview.

Otherwise, the admissions letters tend to come in waves throughout the end of Feb and March. No one has found the key to what causes some to get letters earlier than others. Perhaps it’s done by each professional school (Marshall, Thornton, etc) which makes some sense since the SCA all seemed to come out latish in the waves last year.

When do they typically notify students that they wish them to interview for a scholarship?

Thanks madbean! Do you guys happen to know if there has been any pattern for Annenberg acceptances in the past few years? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just trying to find some sort of solace during the waiting period lol :)

Question on the application. They don’t have Honors courses in the drop-down boxes. Should I count Honors as regular level or type them in?

If it appears on the transcript then you should put it down.

Question; My teacher faxed my recommendation and unofficial SAT score report on the 30th of november, but my document management system has yet to show its received the documents. Is this bad? What should I do?

First confirm with your teacher that it was actually sent, with the correct cover sheet if they were necessary. Then call USC and ask if they were received. If negative, you may want to resend them.

Do international students have to submit SAT subject tests scores? Thanks!

Double check their web site, but I’m 99% sure they have to. In fact, we were told all applicants should.

does anyone know if those who are accepted in the first wave (late jan/early feb) are required to send in midyear report? i would think that since you’ve already been accepted, you won’t need to send anything in? or perhaps they would request it when they’re deciding whether to grant you the scholarship or not?
and the same question for the other waves? do you only send in a midyear report if they ask you to (whether for borderline applicants or dean’s scholarship hopefuls)? how likely is it that they would ask?
i’m just worried because i think i’m a top tier applicant (UW 3.8, W 4.75, sat 2310), but i’ll probably end up with a 3.3-6 gpa this semester, probably destroying any chance i may have had at getting in.

and on another note, i’m an nationalmerit semifinalist, so i just need to indicate USC as my first choice college by may 31 (the deadline indicated on nmsc’s site), and if i become a finalist, i’ll be automatically given a 1/2 tuition scholarship?

thanks for any response!

Are any applicants that are NOT granted scholarships notified of their acceptance around February? Do they ever release decisions early for some “normal” applications early? Does anyone know any specifics about when theatre or music applicants are notified?

^ Applicants chosen to interview for the Bacc/MD program hear in late January, and a few highly qualified candidates who are not invited to interview for the Trustee or Presidential also receive acceptances - several of those reported receiving Dean’s (1/4 tuition) Scholarships in late February.

Most December 1st applicants - probably ~19,000 of the approximately 20,000 who apply by the scholarship deadline - will hear in waves between early March and the first week of April.

I don’t know specifics about music and theater acceptances - other than That I have seen some music and theater acceptances among the scholarship candidtaes and during the waves in March and on.

whats the deal about turning in a late application? I just recently found out I may be moving to California with my family and I was wondering what the policy is at USC. thanks
