The “policy” is that the deadline is January 10th, and that date has passed. If you are very intereseted in USC and can spare the application fee, you can always try submitting now and see what happens. A very similar question was asked recently and there is a more complete answer here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1071662-late-application.html

Good luck!

Question1: I’m currently in a UC right now and I tested out of English 1B (which is the equivalent of Writ130). Now, the USC transfer requirement states that I need Writ130’s equivalent after graduating high school, but I tested out of 1B using my AP scores. Will this count or should I go and enroll in 1C (Which is also the equivalent of Writ130 but priority is given to upperclassmen --I’m a Freshman–)?

Question2: Right now I’m in college and away from my high school. My High school sends transcripts via Docufide and so I can’t exactly get a hold of them. I believe on USC’s transfer website it said that ‘many forms of electronic transcripts are accepted’ (one of those ‘fine print’ statements), but I’m a bit concerned since I’ve already sent in my HS transcript via docufide and am unable to ‘attach’ Form 7 to it since it’ll never reach my front door.

I’m going to call a USC admissions rep tomorrow to talk and sort out my problems, but a little forewarning would be excellent!

Thanks in advance!

With all the excitement happening on the Trustee/Presidential scholarship forum, I thought I should check my D’s status (she had applied to meet the Dec 1 deadline) just to see if things were still the same. The status was still the same - “We have received your application, and it appears we require no additional information at this time.” However, when I clicked on the Admissions Documents tab, I was shocked to see that her supplemental teacher recommendations were showing as not received. (She is applying to SCA). That was not there before, I am quite sure. Here are my questions:

why does the status not alert us to the fact that her application is incomplete?

will she still be eligible for scholarship consideration?

due to privacy issues, the teachers had sent the recommendations, via snail mail, directly to the Admissions office. Since it looks like they have not matched the recommendations to the applicant, are these recommendations lost forever in the Admissions office?

Hopefully it is just that the documents list hasn’t been updated - call admissions first thing in the morning to discuss it. Good luck!

Bigmamabear – I don’t see an Admissions Documents tab. Where is it?

Never mind… I found it. :)

@Rice, after you log into USConnect, the main screen has four big pictures arranged in a square - the upper left pic says “Undergraduate Application” and the upper right pic says “Admissions Documents”. Click anywhere on the “Admissions Documents” picture to get to your documents list.

^oops, sorry, @Rice, didn’t see your post on the next page. :)

So I got my acceptance letter today but it didnt say anything about scholarships (and i applied before Dec 1) so does that mean i didn’t get any scholarships? or does that stuff come later?

^Weird. Did you sign onto USC Connect and try the RSVP link? Did you see a letter congratulating you and announcing your scholarship when you did so?

Well i see the RSVP link but i dont see anything about congratulating me. but i received an actual letter in the mail. so im assuming that just means that im not getting a scholarship

^But try clicking on the big RSVP for Admitted Students box, then click on the little red RSVP box underneath the first event that comes up (Explore USC?).
When you do THAT, does a letter pop open telling you which scholarship you’ll be interview for? (I’m wondering if the scholarship letter might be missing from your packet??)

haha nope I still don’t see it. oh well, i wont worry about it. Most people in my school havent even received letters yet so Ill just wait and see. thanks for your help though!

twinjemini - you are the second person who received an acceptance letter today but no scholarship letter. Was it a large 9x12 envelope with all the Welcome to USC/Congratulations hoopla in it?

yup, it was a big folder with a bunch of stuff in it. just no scholarship haha

Are you a BACC/MD candidate? They also receive early notification of admission. In any case, congratulations on your admission!!!

@Alalmemom— my S got the big envelope too without scholarship offer. He did apply BACC/MD. There was no mention of this at all in the envelope though. Does that come later and does that affect scholarship offers? Thanks for any help— not sending all things together makes things very stressful for families.

The possibilities with Bacc/MD (and double-check my info with the Bacc/MD thread on the Multiple Degrees forum - I am not at all familiar with the process):

Bacc/MD is probably the most selective USC program, and attracts the most qualified candidates :)

Some Bacc/MD applicants will be selected by CLAS to be Trustee or Presidential candidates independant of the Bacc/MD selection process and invited to interview for those scholarships. Of that group, some will be selected for Bacc/MD interviews, and some will not.

Some Bacc/MD candidates will be admitted with the early wave so that they can be invited for Bacc/MD interviews (here is where I am not completely certain - so PLEASE double-and-triple-check before suggesting to your son that he may have a Bacc/MD interview!). In those cases the students were not up for the Trustee or Presidential, but received Dean’s scholarships later in the process.

There are only 30 Bacc/MD spots available in the entering class, and over 100 will be invited to interview. It is a HUGE accomplishment to be offered an interview, but the odds will still be very steep at that point. The Bacc/MD program is SO great, though…

To sum up, I think this means your son may have snagged a Bacc/MD interview - confirm before telling him, though! (And to me, getting the Bacc/MD interview is a bigger deal than the scholarships.)

BEST of luck to your son - be sure to post if you get info that confirms or discounts the info I have posted here - I’ll be waiting to hear :)

@sportsmomma, the Trustee scholarship information came in the same envelope as the rest of the admissions materials.
