Just received an email from FASFA Dept. of Education that a correction to my FASFA was made today with no explanation of what the correction was. Will try calling tomorrow but was wondering if anyone has any insight or received a similar type email and if yes what did you do? I’ve applied to 8 colleges and now I’m concerned what impact this change (whatever it was) may have. Thank you in advance for the help!
If you need to do anything, the school(s) will contact you.
My daughter got this (she’s a junior) and it was just the school changing the total amount of her loans to date. It did not change her EFC and she didn’t need to do anything.
If the school changed something that does change your EFC, then you need to contact the school that made the change.
Okay, thank you! I don’t know what school might have made the change other than possibly Cornell as they contacted me about our financial documents and had a question. But I haven’t been accepted there. I’m awaiting the decision which comes out at the end of March. Surely if I call the FASFA # they can tell me if it was a school. Thank you so much for responding to my post. Much appreciated! I’m a high school senior going through this process and boy is it a process! Thanks again! @twoinanddone
You can also go into your application (on the FAFSA page) and see if a correction changed your EFC. Since you are not yet in college, you wouldn’t have loans to add. It can be anything, like your status in school (freshman, sophomore), an address, a balance. If you gave different information to Cornell, it is likely Cornell made the change.
I will go online and check it out. Thank you so much! @twoinanddone
