Fastweb is a waste of time

In my honest opinion, I feel that Fastweb is a joke and a waste of time. One's chances of receiving a scholarship through that website is low. I'd rather spend a dollar on a scratch-off ticket or on a Mega Millions ticket---it's fast, and I don't have to write an essay.

What is your opinion of Fastweb?

To be honest, I’ve never heard of it:/ Can you describe it? O, and for a random fact, did you know that you have a greater chance of dying on your way to buy a lottery ticket then you do of actually winning it?
With those odds, this website must be pretty bad:/

I found (and received) a 20k scholarship on there. So no, it is not.

One’s chances of receiving a scholarship are low whether it is found through fastweb or elsewhere. Don’t blame the website that shows you what opportunities are out there.

By all means, keep playing the lottery. It helps out your local schools.

^Wow! You actually received a scholarship through them? Congratulations!:)

Yeah, congrats Roman. You’re the first person I’ve heard receive ANYTHING from that site.

Wow then you don’t know a lot of people. I know lots of people that have found stuff through them.

Btw, I didn’t even start applying for scholarships until the January of my senior year. So I have no idea how you’ve heard back from any scholarships saying yes or no.

Obviously they GENERALLY only show national scholarships which are VERY difficult to get. You want something easier then look at local places.

I occasionally go on there to check for any offers, but there are a lot more options for upperclassmen and those enrolled in colleges. I guess I’ll wait around…
^That’s impressive/inspiring

Congrats Roman…but just as bigwill said chances are EXTREMELY low. I guess someone must really put in the effort to find a scholarship that interests them and sit and write an “award winning” essay.

Just to put it out there…I found scholarshipexperts a better site!!

xxrunning, there is virtually nothing for those of us enrolled in college. Senior year, get em while you can.

And thanks Laura. I don’t remember writing a huge essay. It was like 3 essays of 250 words or less.

Thanks Laura; I might have to try that out.

I mean seriously, why even waste time applying for a $500 scholarship that’s only awarded to 5 people out of an entire country of students?

My 20k was awarded to 50 people.

Most national scholarships award much more than $500. And those $500s add up btw.

^^^ That is so true, it adds up! Have you heard of “Gates Mil Scholarship”?

What requirements do you have to meet to receive these scholarships?

The Gates was a MAJOR pain in the butt. I didn’t have time to finish it.

For my 20k one, you needed a high ACT and a low income bracket. The rest was based on community service.

O ok, well I’m glad you got it:) Darn, that means I have no chance(middle income bracket) O well, I’m glad they offer it, there are a multitude of deserving people who need it more:)

Roman is it too late for the Gates?? One of my teachers was bragging about a check that he received from them.

I really want to “make” myself a full ride, with $500 scholarships…haha

I don’t think Gates is due until the winter so I don’t think so. How did he receive a check? I thought it was only for freshmen in college o.O.

He said something about through the Gates Scholarship every year he receives a $12,000 bonus on his check. I don’t know much about Gates but thats what he said. (I may have understood incorrectly ?)
