Favorite restaurants in the Village? Or other nearby places?

Coming to visit this week! We are staying in Ontario, but I was wondering if anyone had any favorite restaurants in the Village? Always nice to have a recommendation from someone with first-hand knowledge!

I am a bit worried about being there over Valentine's as I imagine things will be crazy crowded. I was thinking it might be best to go super casual that night to avoid crowds??

TIA for all suggestions!

Eureka- high end burgers. They are excellent if you like burgers. The truffle fries are heaven. Usually pretty crowded, but they might take reservations, not sure.

Village Grille - it’s a 50’s style “diner” - [The Village Grille 50’s Diner](http://villagegrille50sdiner.com/).

Aruffo’s Italian Cuisine- definitely reserve in advance, and it’s a little pricey if you’re going with more than 3 people, but the food is just heaven. I can’t even choose what to reccommend, I love everything so much- [Aruffo’s Italian Cuisine](http://aruffositaliancuisine.com)

If you are looking for something cheap, I prefer Saca’s. Bua thai is also good if you are looking for something more expensive

My favorite restaurants in the village:

Espiau’s - the best bowl of albondigas soup ever, seasoned tortilla chips, burritos are huge. Stop by the Chamber of Commerce and get the local coupon magazine called Claremont Quarterly, there are a few dining coupons in there, there’s usually one for Espiau’s. Casual dress, no reservations.

La Piccoletta - a hidden gem and very tiny, but I highly recommend it. Make a reservation ASAP if you want to go here. They serve a different pasta and selection of sauces every week along with a few other entrees. You might have better luck if you come early (I believe they open at 5pm) oh and save room for dessert, you won’t be sorry.

Tutti Mangia - better than Arruffo’s in my opinion but depending on the day you should make a reservation to be safe. It’s very pricey for my budget but the food and the service are wonderful.

Saca’s is very good and reasonably priced. If the weather is nice, you can order your food to go and sit on a bench or the lawn in front of Bridges Hall of Music and just enjoy the peace and quiet.

Walter’s - lots of outdoor patio seating and a mix of American / Afghan food. Tip 1 - order the afghan fries and make sure you get the green chutney (in a ketchup bottle) to go with it. The fries (tempura battered potato rounds) are really good but can be greasy, just FYI. Tip 2 - If you order soup, you can get more than one kind in the bowl, just ask. I love their iced tea too!

Pizza n Such - BEST PIZZA!!! I highly recommend it. (Heart shaped pizzas available on Valentine’s Day!)

Dr. Grubb’s is also really good, pretty healthy but there’s not much space to dine in. This is mainly a to go place.

Bua Thai - I come here for lunch because the prices are more reasonable then. What I like the most is that they use white meat chicken in their dishes, none of that yucky grissly stuff you get at other places.

The Back Abbey - I’m a sucker for their burgers.

Heroes - a sports bar peanuts on the floor gigantic servings kind of place. Food is good, service is ok, prices are mid range.

One place I would recommend in Ontario - Rosa’s on Vineyard by the airport. Very pricey but excellent food and service! You should definitely make a reservation if you plan to eat there.

There are plenty more places, you can always check yelp if there’s anything specific you’re looking for.

Have a great trip!!

It’s "Eureka!"—can’t forget the all-important exclamation point! That’s the crux of their visual identity, along with menus and even architectural design based around the orange “!”. I was very impressed with the design and typography of their menus. :stuck_out_tongue: Oh, and they had good burgers too. heh.

Plus, they’re right next to 21 Choices Frozen Yogurt which is INCREDIBLE. To the original poster, you should definitely check it out. It’s right across from the Casa 425 hotel.

I’ve also heard great things about Walter’s, and will be sure to visit next time I’m in Claremont. :)

Thanks to all of you! Goodness! So many choices! Maybe ds will wind up here so we will be able to visit and finally get around to trying out all of them! So excited about our trip!

Union on Yale! Fabulous restaurant. Owned by the people who own Back Abbey, which is also terrific.
