I’m curious as I might go there next year!
Favorite thing - the size. So many clubs, so many people you can be friends with, I liked large classes because I could do other things or not go and there’s no attendance (I would just sit up front if I was interested and then it didn’t matter how many people were behind me), opportunities that come with a large school, sports atmosphere that comes with a large school, etc.
Least favorite thing - I really liked the traditions but some of them are past their time. Examples: the purple shadows (racist/anti women secret society), inner workings of the honor society, preppiness all the time, etc.
bump someone please answer this it’s a great thread
I love that along with great academics, the school spirit is outstanding. How many schools of UVa’s academic caliber can say that? People we talk to are always surprised that students attend every sporting event for free(yes, I know technically pay through tuition and fees). Our son is an active Hoo Crew member and they host events at many non-football/basketball games to encourage turn out for all sports. Attending a field hockey game may earn you points to get tickets to watch UVa men’s basketball.
