My parents hired an accountant to prepare their tax return, but the accountant did not sign the copy that they gave us. They filled out their address and everything else in that area and stamped the copy "File Copy." Now I am faxing my parents' tax return to colleges, and the direction says that the doc must be signed. Do I need to go to the accountant and ask for a signature? My friend told me that since the accountant has given their info on the tax return, I do not need to go back and ask, but I am still make sure that that alright. So what should I do?

Just to be safe....I'd do it.

The accountant does not need to sign, your parents need to sign the copy. This becomes evidence of income, dependencies, itemizations, etc. Include any W2's. If parents do not sign 'return' then any aid consideration will not proceed. This is from experience from me, parent.
