i’m a high school sophomore and i ran for a position on my school’s fbla exec board. i spent so much time preparing my speech, but i got confused with the fbla president’s signaling (for timing) and thought my time was up, so i finished my sentence and went back to my seat. it wasn’t until a few minutes later that i realized that the president actually signaled ONE MINUTE left instead of ONE SECOND, and i didn’t get to finish 1/3 of my speech (which had the most important parts in them). i went to my fbla advisors, who have the most weight in deciding who gets elected for next year. i told one of them about the misunderstanding and how i would love to give the speech again to them either in-person or by sending them a video.
do you think this will kill my chances of getting the position? and the advisors did not get back to me on giving them the speech in person, so do i already have no chance? if they actually wanted to hear my speech, would they have gotten back to me already? should i send them a video of me giving my full speech from home?
i spent a lot of time working on this, and put in the most effort out of all the candidates. i’m also either the most qualified or second-most qualified candidate for the position (out of 4 candidates).
i also REALLY care about the club and REALLY believe that i would be able to help it out so much. i’m not doing this for college apps and genuinely think that i can make a difference, which sucks because i know i’m running against people who are doing this just for college apps
