Fears?

Well, going to college is a completely different experience..and obviously with all things new...there are new fears,or worries..or whatever you'd like to call them.

Thought we'd list out a couple. It might help!

Ok,the weirdest thing I'm getting scared of now is .."What am I going to wear?" haha...true..I've gone to school for 12 years now..only in a uniform...this whole wearing what you want thing freaks me out..hm..it's a bit of a stupid fear huh? But yeah. ;)

Then,um..um..obviously making friends...and food! Foooodd..hope it's good.

Visions of my mom and dad leaving me there on the front step..haunt me! :P
haha..yeah..I'm such a kid. :)

What about you guys?

i fear my mom might call me every night since she is considering a family plan for my cell......

Haha, LiBr, at least you're not close to Duke! My family lives less than 3 hours away- I might get visits instead of phone calls.

Making friends is probably my biggest fear. My second fear is finding my way around- I have NO sense of direction.

nt, I think wearing a uniform would freak me out.

I dearly hope college is easier than high school/IB.

The food is good. Its southern...what do u expect?

When I went on exchange, the kids there were doing a play-Cinderella. The minute they saw my uniform, they were like "Hey,can we use that....it'll make a great outfit for Cinderella", which by far cannot be a compliment, because I doubt they were going to use it as the fairy Godmother gown...it looked more like the rags outfit. :p

YUMM!

If you dont mind answering, are you M or F? Coz some of friends were doing some research, in which they were trying to prove that men have a better sense of direction where as women tend to pay more attention to detail! More evidence would be nice ;)

As for me, my biggest fear would be making friends as well!! Fortunately, I already found a roommate on CC :D

I fear getting a crappy professor. Lord knows I don't need someone who will make my life a living hell.

I'm male. So much for their theory. :)

nt, I've been to Duke several times. That makes my getting lost even worse! You're right about nice people, though- some people came up to me because I "looked lost." :o

Good point, Majayi.

Well in that case I shall use this particular observation :D

I forgot until recently that people are going to duke from all over the country, and in a lot of cases, the people know nobody. Knowing this makes me feel better about being in a situation like that (know only 1 blue devil in my county, and she is a friend's mom). Everything will work out fine... just give it a few weeks and friends will be all over the place. I was at first nervous about going to duke, but now I am so thrilled to meet new people and live away from home.

fear: crappy cafeteria food. im vegetarian, so the possibility of having to subsist on pizza and pasta for an entire year is distinctly high. ):

I'll let a current student who has had more experience with this help you out, i'llbeback, but in my opinion, the cafeteria is very good. There were many options for food, some with meat, some without. For example, there was a salad bar there that had a lot of good looking vegetables when I went in April. So fear not, there will be food for you :)

^ i'v got my fingers crossed!

but u can order food through their merchants-on-wheels program, so i guess it shouldn't be a biggie...

hm..guess you'll need someone to cook for you. :p
NOT ME! ;)
