Feasability of Bioengineering > Bio after transfer (UCLA)

Or, in general, one of the typical premed majors. My (community college) cumulative gpa is about 3.7, and my science gpa approaches 4.0. I did really well in the Bioengineering prereqs, which basically follow or exceed a lot of life science/physical science transfer requirements, and i'm having severe buyer's remorse about the idea of doing premed as an engineer. I think I would do... well, but I think my gpa would be more competitive for med school if I pursue a L&S degree.

I would also hope that my schedule would open up a bit, and allow more time to volunteer.

Can it be done? Of course, assist.org says THIS MAJOR IS HIGHLY SELECTIVE, but everything seems to be in UCLA.
