FEBRUARY 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD

^Yes

i guessed on the last 3 math, and i almost ran out of time on the english

Do you think the reading curve will be normal or lenient?

I don’t think there is.

Did anyone else take longer on the english section then normal? I feel like I had to think about the questions longer…almost ran out of time

My son thought English was harder than jirmal. Usually has so much extra time but didn’t this time. And thought more answers than usual were to leave the sentence unchanged.

I think the reason the math was so hard for some people was because we haven’t done that math in a long time. I’m in calculus, but I haven’t seen some of that stuff in like 5 years!

English surprised me I thought I would have more time.Math killed me, the last 10 questions were difficult. Reading was incredibly easy and science was average.

This thread is moving so slowly…

Anyone home?

Ugh this went horribly for me. English was fine. Math was so much harder then usual, I consistently get 35-36 and I probably won’t get that this time. I actually had to guess and I have never guessed in Math before.

Reading was by far the worst for me, I don’t know what happened but I was really thrown off by the new style of question, I had never seen that before. I legitimately did not finish the last question, I had to guess on the last 5. :((((

Science was only slightly better than the reading for me, and I have consistently gotten 35-34’s in it. The first passage was really hard for me for some reason… And then I ran out of time on the last section and had to rush the last 3 questions.

Im really hoping the curve for math is a 58-60 is a 36. And I hope reading and science curves are lenient too! What do you guys think?

I thought english was slightly harder than usual, math was average, reading was easy, and science was difficult (had to guess on last 5)

My prediction:
E: -2-3 (33-34)
M: -1-2 (35-36)
Reading: -3-4 (32-33)
Science: -5 (30) not sure on this one

english- normal with a bunch of “NO CHANGE”
math- a bit harder than usual, the last 3 were killer, but doable. expect -1 to be a 36.
reading- easy
science -super easy

Hi, I am taking the act in April, and am in need of a prep book. I have taken all of the practice tests in the Real ACT Prep Guide. I cannot choose between Cracking The ACT by Princeton Review or Barron’s 6 Practice Test. Will anyone please tell me which one is better?

Also if anyone knows better ACT Prep books, please let me know.

Thanks!!

Does anyone have score predictions for the science section? I thought it was much harder/the questions took up a lot of time compared to normal.

I just want to know the -1 to about -5 range

@wizKhalif‌
I would just assume
-1: 35
-2: 34
-3: 33
-4: 32
-5: 31

@mayukh‌ Try to find tests from previous QAS services or the red book. That is the best.

Good luck

The math and science sections were so easy compared to any previous ACT test last year. I had 10 minutes left on the math section, even if I’m in Calc BC. Reading was moderate, but English was bit off the higher end.

The SAT thread had about 30 pages around this time :frowning:
