February ACT curve predictions?

If you want to see an average curve, open the red book and look at their curves. a -1 is still a 36 in reading and -2 is a 35… get the facts right.

Well is -3 a 33? If not then that curve seems extremely generous.

olleger, good points. But how do you explain a -4 being a 30 on December’s reading??

What? -4 was a 30 on that test? I made a 31 on December reading so that must have been -3? That seems way too harsh.

^ I agree completely

What’s a -10 in math and english and a -15 in science?

a -10 in math is probably a 26-28 and a -15 in science is around 22-24

yes, no doubt about it. The December test must have been one of the easiest in recent memory; it is confirmed that a -4 on reading was a 30. I had 36, 36, 36 on the other sections and 30 on the reading. You can confirm that -4 was a 30 on reading with ACT. December was probably the easiest test in the last 2 years based upon the posts here at CC. Good luck to you. P.S. Welcome - about your post - yes, a -3 was a 31 for the reading section in December. A harsh predetermined curve for sure, but that’s what happens with an easier version of the exam.

man I hope science has a easy curve

Science kills me everytime. Hate it.

btw: NE

Do you know what the curve for the December Science section was?

@mabsjenbu
From the actual ACT test booklet, the December Science curve:
40 - 36
39 - 35
38 - 34
37 - 33

    • 32
      36 - 31
      35 - 30
      34 - 29
      33 - 28
      Difficult test, therefore generous curve

oh ok thanks!

Do you think the science on this test was easier?

np! yeah definitely… then again I practiced a lot before the test so who knows! the only section that I thought was harder was the conflicting viewpoints section.

Sorry about going back to this again, but I took a look at the reading curves in the OFFICIAL ACT BOOK (since I hadn’t actually looked at them for months) and was shocked by what I saw–mind you these were real tests at one point.

Practice test 1
39-49 = 36
One inciment drops after this (i.e. 38 = 35, 37 = 34 etc.)

Practice test 2
Exact same

Practice test 3
38-40 = 36!
One inciment drops after that.

This leads me to believe that the statment earlier that “yes, no doubt about it. The December test must have been one of the easiest in recent memory; it is confirmed that a -4 on reading was a 30.” is false. Number one, how can you confirm a -4? You never get that specific of results back (and these threads hardly discuss all the questions that one would need to acurately predict their score, let alone “confirm it”). Also, compared to traditional curves, this seems way off.

haha okay now I’m done. Probably just trying to convince myself ; )

The ACT sends back tests with your answers and the correct answers if you order them.

olleger, I just read your post. Wrong. You absolutely do get that result with the test booklet that can be ordered for certain tests. Look at deposition’s post above. And yes, -4 on reading was a 30. You can confirm that with ACT. Anyway, the only reason a -4 can be a 30 is due to an extremely easy version of the test, at least with the reading section. P.S. Don’t look at the curves on the tests in the red book. The predetermined curve can change from test to test and it looks like it is getting harsher. Just my opinion. Good luck.

haha I was just trying to make myself feel better ; ). I’m chasing that elusive 36 but have 2 wrong on the reading. Translation: need nice curve = D

@olleger

So you think out of the entire test, you’ve only missed 2 reading questions???

Wow. I think you have a good shot at a 36 :)

Please don’t say you think the curve is getting harsher. I definitely don’t need to hear that haha :)

haha

well I dont expect the science curve to be as good as it was in December. idk about the rest though. although apparently, ppl think the math was harder this time around…

The math didn’t seem that hard to me but I do know of 3 questions I got wrong so if it was hopefully that -3 would be a little closer to a 34  (aw to dream haha)
