Midd's February matriculation seems appealing, but I have a few questions. What are the pros? Cons? Do the students transition well? How does Feb matriculation impact housing, course selection and financial aid?

Older S is a happy Feb-Instant friends, first pick of classes, better room. Fin Aid is the same.
He was able to join and have meaningful impact on 2 student organizations, get a job, and has been totally happy being a Feb.

OBD, Thanks. I’ve learned a lot from your posts!

According to Middlebury, as a whole the Febs have slightly higher GPAs and slightly more leadership positions than their fall admit counterparts. They are not sure why this is, but I suspect that at least part of it is not having the same type of first semester adjustment to being away from parental supervision.

My husband was a Feb and he says they often look for more outgoing and social students for February because they come in and are ready to dive right into the action. On the flip side, the campus is excited by the arrival of the Febs and looks forward to infusion of new energy during the dreary winter months.

Thanks, leaves. My S was not happy to be offered a Feb spot originally, but now he says it’s the best thing that ever happened to him. The Febs are really tight and Midd makes sure they are happy.
