Hello, I have a question on package notifications from FedEx or UPS. Do we need to sign up for the accounts using the kid’s name? Sorry, I know I’m way too early to ask a question like this, Thank!
I think so, I can’t quite remember. Please know they are mostly useless. I know everyone will do it anyway but…
We did it with Kid 1 and the notifications came after we had gotten all the acceptance letters. Also, only half the schools shipped with something that we could get notifications for. Needless to say, didn’t do it with Kid2.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early.
I don’t believe it matters. That said, I am also in the camp that it is pointless as it will be worthless for most schools at this point - they’ve caught on. Save the stress and just wait a day and kiddo can keep refreshing the email at the appointed hour.
To put things in perspective, I am told that in the olden days before the magma cooled and while dinosaurs roamed the earth, kids had to wait by a thing called a mailbox until a person dressed in blue walked up at an unspecified date and time with an envelope containing their decisions. Patience is a virtue.
Just answering the question, not advocating one way or another: No, you don’t create the account using your child’s name. You create the account for your street address and get notifications for everything shipped to that address, no matter to whom it is addressed specifically. There is a verification process, although I don’t remember what we had to provide to show that we do live at that address.
Thank you very much! I guess I can not help creating those accounts, LOL!
Haha, I know… The olden days made it more fun,
I just think it creates needless anxiety because if you don’t get notifications you are all going to be stressed and honestly those things just don’t work that well. If you do sign up don’t start checking CC the night before because everyone is like “I got 10 notifications!!!” and you haven’t gotten any and assume your kid didn’t get in anywhere. But that is NOT true.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll try my best!
