Okay. So, just how much do we read and then write for the FEE?

I'm leaving for Asia on 28 May and traveling for about 30+ hours straight. I can get the reading material before I leave and read it on the plane. I'd have to write it when I first get there, but we don't have any events planned.

Could I pull it off?

I really want to be in the HASS lottery.

Also, can someone address just what happens if I do go with the July test? Will I be allowed to enter the lottery at all?

You can still enter the HASS-D lottery if you take the July FEE. You just won't know if you passed the FEE or not by the time you enter the lottery, which is really not a problem, because if you don't pass, you just sign up for one of the CI-Ws when you get to campus rather than the HASS-D you got in the lottery. The lottery's not binding or anything.

(Strictly speaking, even if you didn't enter the HASS-D lottery at all, there's a decent-to-good chance you'd still be able to get into your first-choice HASS when school starts -- my husband, for example, the paragon of disorganization that he proudly is, never entered the lottery during his four years at MIT. You can just go to the first meeting of class with an add form and usually get in, unless you are interested in taking a very popular HASS-D.)
