Freshman Essay Evaluation

I'm debating whether or not I should take the FEE in June or just wait for the make-up in August (I won't be here in July). I won't be home for 2/3 of the weekend of June 1, and I doubt I'll perform to the best of my ability because it's an extremely busy weekend.

I took the AP English Literature and I'm pretty sure I got a 5, but I wouldn't mind taking the FEE in August if necessary. Is the August exam evaluated based on the same standards as the June and July essays, even though it's hand-written? Would I be missing out on a lot of Orientation? Is it difficult to change HASS-D classes after I arrive on campus if I happen to not fulfill the requirements?

From what I understand, I'm not allowed to take both the June and the August tests. So is it worth taking the one in June?

Well, the safe choice is obviously just to take the FEE in June.

But what I would do, personally, is wait for the AP results. If you get a 5, then you're all set and don't even have to think about the FEE.

Ultimately, you can enter the HASS-D lottery whether or not you've taken the FEE. It's just that if you eventually fail the FEE, you'll have to take a particular writing class. It's not particularly difficult to get into a HASS-D in general if you don't enter the HASS-D lottery (my fiance never entered the lottery in four years at MIT), but it's always nice to have a reserved spot and not to have to worry about the class being full on the first day.
