Feedback on Cal Poly Pomona?

I am currently a high school student in Southern California. These past few months, I have researched what I want to do in business and I saw that Cal Poly Pomona had a decent program. The reason why this school caught my attention was because it is so close to home and I could easily commute to it. As I did my research, I saw that they had a good entertainment marketing program. Is Cal Poly Pomona a well known school throughout the area with a good business program?

By the end of my junior year, I estimate my EI to be at least 3800. As a local admit, I am not too concerned of getting rejected.

I have a few questions regarding Cal Poly Pomona:

  1. Does Cal Poly Pomona have a good business program?
  2. Do they have a good campus, student body, teachers, etc?
  3. Do they have a good rep for their entertainment marketing program?

CPP is better known for their engineering than business. For business, you may want to also consider Fullerton or Long Beach.

I’d go on campus and visit the business department and let them tell you about placement for their recent grads.

@arc918 is Cal Poly Pomona an easy school to get in as a local admit?

If it’s in your “local service area” then it should be easy. My kid’s service area school was Long Beach State, easy for local kids to get in (lord help the other 75,000 applicants).

I have a degree in business with a sports and entertainment marketing emphasis from Cal Poly and the program was fantastic. They believe in “learn by doing” and as such as a student you are provided a great opportunity to work with real businesses. During my time at Cal Poly we worked with the LA Angels on the project to Change their name and with large Los Angeles advertising agencies. Because of this exposure I was offered a job prior to graduating. I have since gone back to help guest teach the Media Classes and have hired several students from the program.

@zschroll3 Thank you very much! Your information is very helpful! It is good to know about the many opportunities that come with this program.

Is the entertainment marketing an impacted major/program? And what EI score would be a decent score for a local applicant? I hope to have somewhere around a 3800. Is this good enough to get in to Cal Poly Pomona as a local admit?
