Feedback on Freshman Schedule

Hi, i just wanted to get some feedback on my Freshman Schedule, about the courses i want to take, what to do to make sure i do well, and if you think i should drop, or switch course. My freshman classes for this fall would be

General Physics
General Physics Lab
Organic Chemistry I
The Nervous System I
Calculus III
Intro to Programming

How many credits does that add up to?

It would be 19 but i realized yesterday i probably couldnt do that. Right now I am between two options.
1st
Organic Chemistry
Intro to Programming
Calculus III
The Nervous System
and possibly Great Books at Hopkins(GBH)
with out (GBH) = 14 credits with it = 17

My second option is
Organic Chemistry I
Intro to Programming
Calculus III
General Physics
General Physics Lab
Credit total = 16

Which do you believe is better

According to Isis on Hopkins website, Nervous Systems includes the phrase “no freshmen” in its description, so I don’t think that is an option.

I already spoke with the professor and he was fine with me taking the course.

you need cognitive neuroscience (080.203) in order to take nervous system, even if the professor says it’s okay, the academic advisors most likely won’t allow you to take NS/Phys/Orgo in the same semester. that’d be death.

and fall semester freshman can only take 16.5 credits max. and you’re pretty heavy on hard sciences, i would go with at least one small seminar class and something that interests you for this semester (take advantage of covered grades) don’t kill yourself yet…

Hopkins '15

I spoke with the advisor and she was really against me taking the course but said to take the course at my own risk, and on ISIS it says prereq or permission, so i went and got the permission . And with both possible schedules i’m within the max credits allowed for the first option i said possibly take the Great Books at Hopkins course but i can always not take that course and sign up for a seminar course instead like you suggested so would you recommend the first schedule

both of your schedules still seem pretty heavy… but i would definitely take great books, it’s a good course from what i’ve heard.

just don’t overwork urself in the first year, want to have some fun…

Jesus, don’t kill yourself your first year at Hopkins… don’t you want to have some sort of fun? Just take either Orgo or Physics, and don’t take nervous systems… it’s college, you can enjoy it.
