Schools I'm Looking At:
-Brandeis University
-George Washington
-Tufts
-Amherst
-Case Western Reserve University
-American
-Emory

What do you think my chances are of getting into any/all of these schools? Brandeis is my top choice. My SAT kinda kills me, but maybe my extra curriculars help to make up for it?

I would send in your ACT only, not your SAT I. What are your SAT II scores?

In any case, I think you're in at Brandeis, GWU, American.

Emory, Tufts, Amherst are all reaches. Good luck!

lolabelle has them all correct. Plus Case Western is a match to slight reach.

lizzyb,

IMO, I think the only school on your list that represents a huge Reach is Amherst. I think Brandeis is a solid Match, and Emory and Tufts are in the weak Match to slight Reach range. Definitely can go either way depending on your essays.

Have you visited Emory? It has some real possibilities... Their Middle Eastern Studies programs are excellent, with very good opportunities to work closely with professors who are experts in their field. The IR program is very solid as well. Also, if you feel that you could "play Div III Volleyball easily", you may want to get in touch with the women's volleyball coach, Jennifer McDowell. They are consistently high-ranked in Div III and are usually participants in the NCAA Div III women's volleyball tourney every year in the past 10 years. Additionally, the Athletics Director Betsy Stephenson was a volleyball athlete in the past and has sat on several NCAA volleyball committees.

Regarding your chances at Emory, I like the commitment shown in your EC's. Emory recommends, but does not require, SAT Subject Tests. Reinforcing lolabelle's suggestion, I would send your ACT scores (32) and not send your SAT scores. Your GPA is about average for Emory, and your class rank is very solid (about 90% of Emory's enrolled freshmen are in the top 10% of their respective H.S. classes). You have demonstrated that you've challenged yourself with above-average academic rigor.
