Once students are in Columbia GS they are taking the same courses as other Columbia students

Yes, once they are there and have proven themselves, they can. However, attaining a 4.0 at a COMMUNITY COLLEGE does not lend him any bragging rights.

For instance I got into other "exclusive" ivy's..... INTO THEIR REGULAR PROGRAM

As well you should. GS is nothing more than an extension cash cow for Columbia.

Obviously, there are several extremely talented people at GS who absolutely deserve the opportunities at Columbia (but deserve a more integrated program!!) and I also think that if you have the money to go to GS then it makes sense to take advantage of the opportunity, regardless of the incorrect stereotypes associated with the actual academic program.

but I think the bottom line is that it IS a money grab. because why else would they not change things...if they really want the best and brightest young non-traditional students, then they would change their policies! so the only explanation I can come up with is that it is about the money...what I find frustrating is the false advertising...this idea that GS is exactly the same as CC and SEAS but then they end up treating them so differently,....and also the fact that there is no other path to apply for people like titanboxer and myself.

I'm not making a decision until next spring, but quite honestly, I would be shocked if I chose GS over another school next year, even if GS did improve financial aid....my dealings with them have left a bad taste in my mouth
