Feel like making a day or crushing a dream? (RD chance)

SAT I: 2280 (790 CR, 700 M, 790 W) *only took standardized tests once
SAT II: 800 USH 800 chem 790 math II
GPA: 4.0 uw (school doesn’t weight)
class unranked (only 70ish students) but probably ~5%
senior year courseload: AP calc AB, AP English, AP biology, honors latin IV, honors theology, studio art *this actually is the most rigorous courseload possible, school only offers 5 AP classes
AP exams: AP chem (5), APUSH (5)
Awards: Questbridge finalist, National Merit Commended, Rensselaer Medalist, National Latin Exam: Summa Cum Laude (x3)

ECs: Newspaper (junior editor, then editor-in-chief), Forensics (captain, state finalist past four years), Math League (almost always top scorer), NHS (tutoring chair), work ~25 hours a week, volunteering at hospital and preschool >200 hours
Summer programs: CTY American legal history, Russian history
Recommendations: can’t be sure, but I think they’re both really good; both from teachers I’ve had multiple times who seem to really like me. GC rec pretty good, have a good relationship with her.
Commonapp essay: Really, really good. It’s about cooking, but not really. I’ve had lots of different people read it, so I’m pretty confident.
Supplemental essay: Still working on it, but it’s shaping up to be really good. It’s about how Fitzgerald’s prose changed my whole perception of how writing could be.

Race/gender: white female
Hooks: low-income (Questbridge), legacy *weird combo, right?

Other info: difficult/unstable home life, both parents have substance abuse issues, most of the money I make goes towards rent/groceries/school supplies.

Academically, your record seems close to bulletproof. Your EC’s and summer activities aren’t hugely original, I suppose, but working 25 hrs/wk while keeping up academics the way you have is extremely impressive. It sounds like you’ve got plenty of interesting material to work with for your essays. If you write well, you should have an excellent chance.

agree with Nobokov. Just write good essays. Good luck!
