Feeling cheated at class registration...

I am a Liberal Studies student, so my first semester is looking like three required courses plus only one measly elective. It seems most classes are worth 4 credits; to be under 18 credits per semester (the max my scholarship covers) I can only take 4 classes each semester, meaning only 8 classes a year. My sister goes to NM State, and she usually takes 12 classes a year.

I'm starting to wonder if I'd be better off at another school.

Am I the only one feeling cheated by this?

4 classes is perfectly normal for the semester system NYU uses.

There are also 2-credit courses, so you might look into that if you really feel the need to take a fifth course. The 4-course load is pretty common at NYU and you may find that with your lecture/recitation/lab schedule and homework it would be wise to stick with 16 credits that first semester.

4 courses at a semester school is normal. Is your sister at a quarter school?
