I agree Hunt, the RA’s role is fuzzy. There appears to be another person at the dorm addressing this problem and the the RA is following instructions. There may be people behind the scenes moving heaven and earth to get the girl help.
This has been helpful especially for understanding the need for the young woman to control the next events that happen. Perhaps there is more of a process going on than I am aware of.
Just one Dad, the thread was intentionally vague to protect anything that might be identifying. All of the responses were helpful and the young woman is getting the help she needs.
It may be that the RA’s are told to hand the matter over to someone else within the university, and to direct all of those who have information to that person.
I am so, so very sorry for this young lady, and would be happy to put a bullet through the head of the perpetrator(s). And you know how I feel about guns!
“The woman is talking about harming herself. Keeping her safe is the most important priority, bar none – it’s more important than filing a police report or anything else. I would contact the rape counselors at the school anonymously”
This. It’s really the ONLY thing that matters as long as the danger continues. The victims’ friend should call the university counseling center or a self-harm/suicide crisis hotline on an emergency basis and then follow their instructions.
