I submitted my app on the 14th and it shows to have been downloaded on the 16th, but they still haven't updated it on WesCheck and I'm hoping it wasn't considered late or anything. Has anyone else had this problem?

I think you are a strange one for thinking of passing on WUSTL, not to come across rude but you did get accepted already correct?

sorry to threadjack, back to your regularly schedualed WesThread.

// WUSTL is overrated

oh, well then that explains it. makes sense

Brand, it took an entire week after my app was downloaded for wescheck to say that they had filed it. Don't worry.

so what? i passed on amherst, big deal.

I know, I know. I think WUSTL looks like a really good school to me personally. I'm not calling him crazy, just asking why he would still go out and apply this late in the game when he already has a great acceptance, why apply mid march.

thanks Jeannie that is what I wanted to hear.

Adam, I've intended to apply to Wesleyan, WashU, NYU, and UT from the beginning. I added on McGill at the last minute, on the off chance that my family could not make finances work and I'd have to attend a cheaper school. Wesleyan has always been my favorite school and so getting into WashU changes nothing - it only gives me a bit of confidence and security as I now have a true "safety" school. It is important to look past the rankings when trying to find the right school, and I believe I've found it.

On a side note, Wesleyan is just as well respected as WashU in most people's eyes (that I've spoken with) and after looking over law placement charts I've found that Wesleyan is just as good as WashU at top law placement, and better for some schools (sent a far higher percentage to YLS, for instance).

And for the record, I agree with lostincode. WashU is somewhat overrated, though I still consider it a top private school. It's not like I'm passing up HYPS for Wesleyan.

I don't really follow rankings much so I don't know where Wash U or Wesleyan rank but I didn't mean to come across as condescending in anyway. I don't actually know much about Wesleyan at all and only a fair amount about WUSTL.

I think you and I have alot of similarities in the schools we choose (it seems) brand182 also, so I figured highly appealing to me, same would probibly go for you.

No offense taken. It's a very valid question and I seem to be getting it alot.

I didn't know anything about Wesleyan until about 8 months ago (long after I had researched universities) because people introduced me to the idea of LACs. I wouldn't pass these great institutions up as you may find they have the environment that you've been looking for.

And I do really like WashU or I wouldn't have applied, but there are a lot of reasons that have made me place Wes at the top of my list. What schools are you thinking of applying to?

I'm still throwing alot of ideas around. I am definite at trying for NYU's econ/math in CAS and I believe I am almost certain about Reed. I was looking at alot of other schools you have mentioned earlier or recently like WashU, Northwestern, BU, and I've become alot more interested in the higher LACs as well as they seem to fit my personality and goals a little better.

are you applying for fall 07?

I was considering it but I want to build up my GPA and get some more ECs and outside work done. I also want to retake my SATs like you mentioned in another thread because I know at least reed WILL take the highest score, even if taken out of highschool.

Kool just wanted to make sure you weren't because the deadline has already passed for so many. You know, I dunno if you feel like it, but after this transfer process I really wish I had applied to some schools after my first year of college, even though I knew it was pretty unlikely that I'd be accepted. You may be rejected everywhere, but at the very least you've shown interest and they'll see that next year and more importantly, you may get to transfer now!

Anyways, where are you coming from? Did you post your stats somewhere?

When I called, they said they would accept the application as much as a week late.

I dont know if I did, I'll throw them up in the Cutting down your choices thread I made, lets get this one get back to Wesleyan.

haha no worries I already got the answer I needed. I can't believe they're accepting apps so late - it seems that everybody is extending their deadlines this year.

Yeah, JHU told me that applications won't start getting processed until mid-April. Is that a hint that applications are still being accepted?
