I was wondering what the status of the Wesleyan fencing club was. I asked a Wesleyan Rep. who came to my school and she knew there was a club but couldn't give me any details. Is the club good? Does it have all three weapons including saber? Is there student involvement in the club?( do people know about it?) How established is it? (as in, does it have staying power?). I was just curious about the status. Thanks alot! :D :P

just any info about the fencing club there would be appreciated

I was told the fencing club is brand new this year and just getting started... or maybe it's just being revived? Anyway there's also a fencing class at https://iasext.wesleyan.edu/regprod/!wesmaps_page.html?crse=006025&term=1089

The fencing club is just getting started (there appears to have been an earlier attempt to have a club, but it has no connection to the current one). Officially it's just foil, but people bring other weapons too. The people running it seem very dedicated, though it's hard to tell if it will fizzle or not, and so far attendance has been rather lackluster, but hopefully that will change as more people find out about it.

would it be possible for freshmen to expand it to include epee, if it seemed that there were a bunch of people who were interested?

One thing that you will discover about Wesleyan is that if there are ever "a bunch of people" interested in ANYTHING, you can do it. It's not like the big bad upperclass fencers are going to tell you not to bring your epees to fencing club. Or whatever. I don't know anything about fencing at all, but I do know that no one at Wes will tell you not to do what you're into.

thanks! yeah, that's what i thought i'd hear... i visited wes and it seems like that kind of place. but still, thank you. :]
