Few questions about the Res Halls (Dykstra, Triple)

Roughly how much free floor space is there? Oh, and there should be enough room to fit a fridge this size http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=2625036, under the desk right?

How exactly are the closets structured? I've gotten the impression that it's drawers, then space for hangers, then shelves. About how much room is there for the hangers and clothes (how long is it?) There isn't enough room for something like this http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_2/601-0395229-3640122?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000KHTE0A is there? I've seen the askhousing thing on closets, but it only gives the total length.

Are there drawers under the bottom bunk in a triple? or is it empty space?

And are trash cans provided or not?

Thanks

Yes you can fit a fridge under your desk, however... that may be impractical and annoying to pull stuff out of. You should be able to fit it between the desks or in the corner (push the bunks all the way to the closets, and align the desks parallel to a line running from the door to the window.

You can hang that thing inside the door closet (there's 2 per room, then a closet underneath the loft). The bottom may be folded.

This is how my roommates and I did it last year in hedrick - There are 4 big shelf deals above the main closets and we shared those (1 to each, plus 1 for shared storage, basically the big stuff we never used) The two lofts got the closets next the door, along with the narrow drawers alongside them. Our third roommate (in the bottom bunk) recv'd the "cave" closet, along with the two underbed drawers.

We didn't have too much stuff, and everything fit. I fit a fridge twice the height of yours, and we stacked our VCR/DVD player and TV on top of that in a corner next to the window.

You get two trash cans. They're small, and you may want to bring an extra trash can that's just for paper waste so you can recycle much more easily.

As for closet organizers again, I'm living in a suite this year and I'm getting the shoe organizer and regular one. I think it may fall to the floor and not be all the way useful, but I still like the form of it since I don't hang much in terms of anything up.

Good luck! Try Ikea if you have one nearby, they sell the shoe organizer for 4.99 or 6.99 or something ridiculously cheap. They have a more expensive and nicer one for 9.99. SKUBB & VACKER are the product names.

along with the res hall theme, anyone know a good place to get some type of shelf/tv stand for a rieber hall triple? i'm trying to find one that can fit a 32 inch flatscreen tv

Thanks Deuces, you = awesome.

r30028: Walmart, Target, IKEA, put it on your fridge/microwave/desk, pretty much any other furniture store.

Oh, and has anyone had success with over door organizers? Will the doors close with the hooks on them?

how much stuff are you ppl bringing? I heard organizers and all those stuff...are they really necessary?

Probably too much. Yes, since I'm planning on bringing a lot of crap.

wut are you bringing besides TV/fridge/VCR and cloth and stuff?

i havent even started getting things ready yet. prob just bringing bed stuff bathroom stuff clothes laptop and thats about it

Here's some of the stuff I have in a pile taking up 50% of my floor space so far: Hot pot, I mean, of course I'd never ever bring something that wasn't allowed, Water Filter, Dishes/Utensils, Paper towels, Chair pad, Wireless Router, Sheets, Pillow, Textbooks, Mattress pad, Toiletries, Toiletries Bucket, School Supplies, Printer, Fridge, Clothes, Shoes, Towels.

thats wut im bringin', that shouldnt take up that much space

It's the clothes + shoes that's going to take up space. ;)

You'll probably overpack an amazing amount. But then again. I am male. I know not of what you are, but for the most part, I can get away with.. 3-4 jeans, 3-4 shorts, 10 tee's (since I always find new ones). And enough of the other junk.

Yeah, I probably will, but better to have too much than to not have enough, IMO. Ah, see, I'm a girl ... who loves her clothes and shoes; only 10 shirts (FYI, I don't even own a single t-shirt) would be blasphemous.

lol i cant imagine living in a triple in a res hall for a year... i just did a double in a res hall for a week and it was hell, so good luck to y'all
