Few questions regarding Cornell Engineering..

Prospective applicant with a few questions regarding Cornell engineering-

For current/past students, how was your experience?

What sort of companies recruit?

Does Cornell help students who are interested in startups/entrepreneurship?

Do a lot of engineering students go into finance?

Possible to double major or minor in something non-engineering related (like in CAS)?

How does Cornell compare to other engineering schools (specifically MIT and Stanford)? Not necessarily on strict academic terms, but the whole experience as an undergraduate.

You’ll get either the "it’s tough but it’s worth it, or the “it’s great and is wonderful”. There’s way too many aspects to engineering to answer your question eloquently and fully at the same time.

Career fair list: [Employer List | ECAFT](http://www.rso.cornell.edu/ecaft/employer_list.php)

Define “help”. There is a kesslar fellows program: [Cornell Engineering: Kessler Fellows Program](http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/academics/undergraduate/special_programs/kessler_fellows/index.cfm)

Define “a lot”. ORIEs are basically gunning towards finance. Students from other engineering majors also end up in finance.

[Cornell University - Academics - Undergraduate Minor Fields of Study](<a href=“Fields of Study | Cornell University”>Fields of Study | Cornell University)
[Dual Degree](http://as.cornell.edu/academics/opportunities/dual-degree/index.cfm)

Find me someone who has transferred from one of these schools to another and tell me as well lol

bump bump bump

ILR major that went into finance after graduation chiming in:

For current/past students, how was your experience? N/A

What sort of companies recruit? Google, Intel, Microsoft, all the major players.

Does Cornell help students who are interested in startups/entrepreneurship? Yes. There are tons of entrepreneurship extracurriculars out there, if you have a solid idea, finding funding isn’t too difficult.

Do a lot of engineering students go into finance? I wouldn’t say “alot.” When applying for internships, you either have experience or a solid GPA to get the interview. GPAs are deflated in engineering, thus making it more difficult. If you have the experience early, like as a sophomore, you will have a leg up.

Possible to double major or minor in something non-engineering related (like in CAS)? Yes.

How does Cornell compare to other engineering schools (specifically MIT and Stanford)? Not necessarily on strict academic terms, but the whole experience as an undergraduate.
-I believe Cornell is ranked #1 for undergrad in engineering. MIT is #1 for grad. I can’t speak much for the experience, but I’m a NYC kid, born and raised, and I LOVED my time at Cornell. Wouldn’t have traded it for anything.
