Few things I want to share about transferring into UCs

Hey guys, a transfer guy here.
Midterms are over!!!

So I’d like to share few things today!

  1. At University of California (or at cal at least), ppl don’t give a poopsiepops on whether or not that you’ve transferred.
This is repeated more times than Donald Trump has lied, but I’ll say it again.

HOWEVER, don’t get cocky and go around like a self-delusional “I’m better than others” person.
Everyone knows that it’s easier to transfer into UCs from CCC. Most know the rigors at CC because many of them took some pre-reqs or breadths through community college. Whether you got here by crawling, walking or moonwalking, they will consider you as a UC student. But you’re not the guy who did all 5’s on 12 APs, 2300+ old SAT / 1550+ new/ 34+ ACT, 700’s on 9 SAT 2s, scored a winning touchdown at the Superbowl, and cured cancer as a Extracurricular.

This isn’t just for transfer students. Even between the freshman admits they will fill up their ego by asking each other their SAT/ACT scores and their wGPAs from high school.

So, no, there isn’t a “divide” that you might expect to see. It’s almost like someone made up this ‘divide.’ I’m still looking for some freshman-admits who would call me out saying that I’m stupid because I transferred.

  1. Get A’s man.
That’s all I can say

  2. Last post, I said that IGETC doesn’t matter to Engineering majors… But… if you have a spare time try to get the IGETC done. Even if you aren’t a L&S major. I feel that doing this is helpful because not only you might want to change the major, but you don’t want to get stuck. Like, say you are a pre-pharm biomed engineering student, and you’ve transferred with few Soci Sci/humanity done. Pharmacy schools require a hell load of humanity/socialsci/oral communication/econ etc. Other professional schools / graduate schools/ companies might want to see a person who are well-rounded. Ya know?

  3. Also, get FAFSA done by March 2nd. This is too late now…

Moreover
Someone messaged me about making friends.

  1. You’ll make friends. Period.
There is like 0 chance that people start to ignore you because you are from a CC. Like absolute 0. I was worried, but take my words for that no.1 up there. Suddenly, you’ll see yourself surrounded by good people. And they’ll add you in social media and become your friends! With them you’d always go out to eat, hangout and go study!
    +Club activities, volunteering…
Hey, you can’t make friends if you don’t reach out. It’s super easy to make friends if you join a club or volunteering organization. You can’t become a people magnet without being active.

  2. Misery
Look, I’m not smart. I got W’s, F’s D’s and C’s when I was at CC. Soon once you get to a UC, you’ll find yourself making study groups to survive your next quiz. You’ll thank all million gods and mythical creatures once you survive the midterms. I can’t believe getting a “C” made me really happy. It was absolutely humiliating for me. When people think you are smart, but in reality, avoiding a D is your best option! Humiliating? Yes. Humility is a good life experience.

Not everyone is as miserable as I am here. But, all I’m saying is: don’t feel alone if you transfer and have some hardship. I was here grinding, self-pitying, and self-loathing as much as you did.

Final note!
Yes, of course, there will be someone/some folks who denounce community college.

“There’s a guy who heard from a guy who is a friend of this guy who went to a place where he met this guy who tells of this story when he heard from a person who lives across the city in which he heard from the freshman admits who admits that their other freshman admit friends thinks coming from a community college will disappoint his family.”

To that, I can say,
“a friend of mine who is a guy that knows this guy to whom said to this guy who has overheard this guy commenting on a person who made a comment to a friend who is a person that said to this guy that who thinks community college is a great way to start his college life and he doesn’t care what his family or other people think”

I can’t argue with the fact that there will be someone who downplays community college or might hate transfer students. How can I?
What I can assure you, though, is that people are mostly welcoming! So, if you see that 1% idiot, don’t let him/her spoil the rest of other students.

Also, anyone can downplay anything. I have a friend who says I’m a disappointment to my family for whatever I do.
“Oh, dropping outta UC will delay your graduation and disappoint your mom dude”
“Choosing pharmacy? That might disappoint your family…”
So don’t let hate get in your way. Like my friend joking about my decisions in life, they are pretty useless
