Sorry in advance for all the people who didn't get good Financial Aid from FSU.

Soooo.. I applied for Fin. Aide Jan 1, EFC 0000. I got Awesome Financial Aid from FSU with a perkins loan :-(.. I was wondering if there was anything you may know about regarding Financial Aid, scholarships, grants, whatnot that I can check out to cover the loan so that I wont have to take it... :-/... Here is what FSU offered me...

Bright Futures - 3750/year
Pell Grant - 5550/year
Differential FSU Grant - 1800/year
Supplemental Opp. Grant - 1000/year
Florida Student Ass. Grand - 2234/year

Perkins Loan - 2620/year... :-(

Federal Work Study - 2400/year

I was hoping of the First Generation Matching Grant but its 'reserved' for the CARE students, had I known this I would have done CARE... :-/.. if u cant help thanks anyway.

P.S. I applied for a few scholarships that I thought I was a good candidate to receive and got nothing...

Wow, that’s almost $17,000 in financial aid (not counting the loan) that you don’t have to pay back? What’s wrong with that? Are you looking for more?

Check out the Cost of Attendance: Fall 2011/Spring 2012
Undergraduate Costs - Main (Tallahassee) Campus

The amount they show for housing is $5668 for the year. Smith Hall is only $2150 per semester, so you could save $1368 by living there for two semesters.

Accept the loan and be thankful that they offered you almost everything you need. Most of us were not offered anything near what you were.

Nolette I agree 100% with you…to the OP we’re not calling you out, you even said ahead of time sorry for those not offered as much…and maybe you didn’t realize yet how much FSU and the state is taking care of you, but you know now lol.

lol thanks for the info guys. It was really helpful :-P… anywho, does anyone know if I will receiving aide as good as this for the next 3 years? I literally can’t afford for it to be any less… :-/

The Bright Futures program for next year is still up in the air; the state legislature hasn’t finalized budget yet which will likely include changes for Bright Futures. Too, changes to tuition for next year haven’t been finalized yet by state and Florida public university trustee boards.

I just have a feeling we’re all getting screwed. Especially the former middle class, since most of us are not as middle class as we used to be:(
