Hi! So I am in bit of a dilemma. I am a Visual Communications student at FIDM. My experience at FIDM has been amazing and I have learned so much, only problem is, is that I came here straight out of high school. FIDM doesn't have you take general ed courses because it is a specialty college. Now that I can't afford the Bachelors program at FIDM, I am looking to transfer. I want to go to Cal State Long Beach or Cal Poly Pomona. They also have great fashion programs. This is where the real problem begins. I got into contact with the advisors and they told me FIDM credits mostly do not transfer, so I would need to go to a community college to get 60 credits. Seeing that I am a fashion major, would you recommend that I don't even get a bachelors, or is getting my general ed and transferring worth it? I think this would take like 2 years because I would not have my credits completed by the Cal State deadlines. ANY HELP OR ADVICE IN ANY WAY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Hi! FIDM actually has articulation agreements with more than 100 colleges. I had a friend who did transfer from FIDM and says that her advisor was very helpful in looking at her degree and seeing which classes would transfer to the college she was going to attend. Every college is different so that’s why I say having your advisor look at transcript is going to be your best option. After all, you don’t want to waste your time at a community college if you can get around spending more money at another school. Good luck!
