fights in college

how come there isn't many fist fights in college like there are in high school? is there an explanation to this phenomenon?

because people are more mature....they might get expelled for it.

People in high school are more ignorant. But there are fights in college.

The type of people who are involved in fights in high school are less likely to go on to college.

Hmm. Interesting question. I think it is because aggression is channelled into other outlets, as well.

Part of the reason is likely because once you're in college, you're usually 18 or over. At the age of 18, a "fight" turns into "assault." The whole getting arrested thing may be a deterrent.

Also, the fights aren't probably going to be coming on campus like you always see at high school, but off, at houses, parties, on the street, etc.

Gshine nails it.

I think everyone that has answered is pretty much right.

People are too busy studying to get into fights.

There are plenty of fights at OSU/Michigan football games.

um...i dont know about you all, but I've NEVER seen a fistfight break out at my high school.

people pretty much nailed it...

joev, those people are drunk, they should get multiple charges.

Kit416, depends on where you went to HS. It was not the rarest of things to see 10 police officers at my HS on certain days. MS (<-- this is a huge national/international gang) is in the area, and it's best to try and deal with them when they're younger. I would've been very happy if all the fights at my HS were with fists and not with other objects...

kit: where did you live? goody goody land

or maybe you want to a private school with only 20 people graduating from the senior class each year.
