Fill out FAFSA?

On the Common Application, I checked "no" to whether I need financial aid, my family has enough saved to cover a year or two of college. However, suppose I need financial aid after that. Should I fill out the FAFSA nonetheless now, despite what I said on my application, or later, when (or if) I need aid?

Yes.

You can renew your FAFSA for the following years and I believe some scholarships call upon FAFSA for information.

Thanks.
So even if I missed practically all my schools' deadlines, as long as I apply by June 30th, it'll be okay?

^ I mean, obviously I wouldn't get much aid, if at all. But would colleges still accept my FAFSA for the 2009-10 school year, so the year after that I would just have to renew it?

You can complete the 2009-2010 FAFSA until June 2010.

You should really go ahead and submit it now though. You never know, you may be eligible for some aid as the EFC is based much more on earnings than on savings (except where assets are very high). If you qualify for any aid now it is better to receive it now so that the money saved for college can last longer. If the income is too high now to qualify for aid it will probably still (barring job losses) be too high in 2 years. If the income is such that you qualify for aid now then get the aid. They are not going to give you more money in the future because you did not apply for it now. For instance if you qualify for $3000 in aid now based on income but do not take it, they are not going to give you $6000 next year because you did not use the $3000 this year.

Apply now. Seriously.
