Hello guys...I want to study acting but i pretend to be a TV/Film actor , so i did i little research and came up with this:
The school for film and television (NYC)
NYFA
CAP21
TVI actor studio
Toronto Academy of Acting for Film and television
London Academy of Radio Film and Television.
I'm from Brazil so i have no idea which one is good or bad..would like some help
THANKS

Honestly, I don't think any of those schools are solid acting schools. Try looking into the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, Yale, Brown, Williams, Wesleyan, Connecticut College, Vassar, Kenyon, Hamilton, or Smith College.

(schools were taken from the English, Film and Theater triple major thread)

Hello Sarcastic Assassin,
Thank you for your repply but i'm not looking for Theatre/drama major , i'm looking for a school that can teach me acting for film/tv only ..I've taken some theatre classes , it's fjust not for me.
"NYU, Yale, Brown, Williams, Wesleyan, Connecticut College, Vassar, Kenyon, Hamilton, or Smith College." If i'm not wrong those schools focus on Theatre not screen acting.

No self-respecting four year, degree-granting institution is going to offer "film acting" to the exclusion of theater and drama; it's too narrowly focused. It sounds like you're looking more for what some colleges call a "Communications" major, something that focuses on mass media and may in some cases include some acting, or at least, "spokesperson/model" training. The list you already have may be your best bet, but, also take a look at UCLA, Northwestern and UT/Austin before giving up entirely on the liberal arts.

Ok johnwesley , thank you. I'm definitely going to check those schools .

If you're not looking for theatre at all cross cap21 of your list. It's part of NYU's program and it's musical theatre, which is pretty exclusive to stage.

Look for some schools in LA. I think there are a bunch of 2-year programs for film acting there. It would be a way better place to be that NYC because LA is all about film and hollywood, while NYC is more about theatre.

Hello ckp , i know that LA would be better dor TV/film but it would be more expensive going there compared to NY where i would stay in a friend house...plus rhis will be more a "test drive" to me , so i can get the feeling of acting for screen...If it really works out i will probabily move to LA later on...

I responded to this question in the other thread where you posted it.

do not look into the new york film academy. as a teaching assistant there for two years, i would NOT recommend taking the full year program. a lot of people i know regret taking the program.

if you're looking for a purely filmmaking school, look at the school of visual arts (SVA). good luck!

Ithaca college , Syracuse university ....

hey guys i would like to hear some feedback from these two schools.what do you guys think/what are the + and - of each institution?
